This publication describes the current situation of children on the move. The first section provides data on girls and boys who have left their home. The publication then highlights the importance of timely, disaggregated data on this vulnerable population and identifies some of the existing data gaps. Finally, it provides strategies and solutions to close these gaps.
The report underlines the importance of the partnership between the International Data Alliance for Children on the Move and EGRISS to strengthen national data systems and capacities to protect migrant and forcibly displaced children. It furthers emphasizes the relevance of the International Recommendations on IDP Statistics (IRIS) and the International Recommendations on Refugee Statistics (IRRS) to consistently identify forcibly displaced people, including children.
