EGRISS’ Terms of Reference (TOR) were extended at the 57th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) in March 2026, formally starting the Group’s fourth mandate. The main objective remains to improve national and international refugee, internally displaced persons, and statelessness statistics through the development of international recommendations on how to produce, compile and disseminate statistics on these populations.
The new ToR builds on achievements from previous years and focuses on enabling implementation of the International Recommendations on Refugee, IDPs, and Statelessness Statistics: with the three set of standards now in place, the priority is ensuring that they are adopted, applied, and continuously improved across national statistical systems worldwide.
