The report presents work undertaken by the EGRISS since 2019 to develop International Recommendations on Statelessness Statistics (IROSS), which will be ready for submission to the fifty-fourth session of the UN Statistical Commission in March 2023.
Initially, the report covers the background to the development of the international recommendations. It then elaborates on the progress made to date by the EGRISS, including key elements of a proposed statistical framework. Finally, it outlines the way forward to complete the IROSS. The report was submitted to the UN Statistical Commission for discussion and to initiate feedback that will provide valuable information for the next phase of the Expert Group’s work in developing the recommendations on improving official statistics about stateless populations nationally, regionally and globally.
