UNHCR – Global Trends Report 2021

The focus of this report is the analysis of statistical trends and changes in global forced displacement from January to December 2021 among populations for whom UNHCR has been entrusted with a responsibility by the international community. The data presented are based on information received as of 23 May 2022, unless otherwise indicated.

According to the Global Trends 2021, at the end of the year, 89.3 million people worldwide were forced to flee their homes due to conflicts, violence, fear of persecution and human rights violations. Among different aspects, the report highlights the challenges to measure local integration of refugees and the need to consider internationally recommended indicators in line with the IRRS to compare diverse set of refugee-hosting countries.
