Membership briefing on GRF statistical inclusion pledge

12 September 2023

The EGRISS organized a meeting for its members about the ‘Inclusion of Forcibly Displaced and Stateless Persons in National Statistical Systems and Surveys’ pledge, developed in the lead up to the 2023 Global Refugee Forum (GRF).

Over 60 participants from 19 countries and 14 international and regional organisations were briefed on the call for commitments to further statistical inclusion of refugees, IDPs and stateless persons. Opportunities for members to engage were highlighted, including submitting pledges via the online platform. The invitation will remain open until December this year, with the Secretariat available to support.

Uganda Bureau of Statistics presented their experience pledging at the last GRF in 2019. Their focus was on the impact that this public commitment had at the national level, including improved coordination, better statistics and resource mobilization for data collection purposes.

Results from the multi-stakeholder pledge will be presented at the 15th December 2023 side event, as part of the Global Refugee Forum.
