Collaborative Development
Co-created with national statistical offices, international organisations and technical experts across regions.
The Training Package (TP) on Forced Displacement Statistics is a comprehensive, open-source training initiative developed to support countries in implementing the IRRS, IRIS, and IROSS. Designed for national statistical offices, government institutions, and development partners, it provides a structured and practical framework for strengthening the production, analysis, and use of inclusive data. The package builds on existing EGRISS’ resources, including the e-learning course, regional workshops, and the Compilers’ Manual, consolidating them into a coherent, adaptable programme.
The content is structured seven core and advanced modules covering key areas such as data sources (censuses, surveys, and administrative data), statistical frameworks, institutional coordination, data integration, and implementation planning. They combine technical guidance with practical case studies, participatory learning approaches, and hands-on exercises. Each module will be accompanied by a full set of learning and facilitation materials, including trainer guides, session plans, presentation decks, and interactive tools.
Module 01
Introduction to EGRISS and statistical inclusion
Module 02
Frameworks on refugee, IDP and statelessness statistics
Module 03
Data sources: Population and housing censuses
Module 04
Data sources: Sample surveys
Module 05
Data sources: Administrative data, CRVS and registers
Module 06
Priority SDG indicators and inclusion
Module 07
Coordination, institutional frameworks and data protection
The TP was created in response to growing demand from countries and partners for more structured, practical, and scalable support their efforts of statistical inclusion. While awareness and technical guidance have expanded in recent years, national-level implementation remains uneven, and stakeholders have consistently highlighted the need for adaptable training tools and coordinated capacity development efforts. The TP was therefore designed to address these gaps, while aligning with EGRISS’ Terms of Reference.
Its development began with a needs assessment and mapping of existing resources, followed by the design of a modular curriculum tailored to different user groups, such as survey practitioners, data analysts, and policy planners. This collaborative and consultative process involving our membership: international organisations, national statistical offices, and technical experts from diverse regions and displacement contexts. The content was validated in April 2026, at a three-day meeting in Nairobi, hosted by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS). Feedback from participants, facilitators, and partner organizations was incorporated to refine the package and ensure that it responds to real-world implementation challenges.
