Improving Statistics on Forced Displacement and Statelessness: Emerging Lessons from Country Implementation

10 February 2022

On the sidelines of the 53rd session of the UN Statistical Commission, EGRISS convened the event “Improving Statistics on Forced Displacement and Statelessness: Emerging Lessons from Country Implementation” to showcase the experience of a selection of countries in implementing the international recommendations on refugee and IDP statistics and to draw attention to the group’s ongoing efforts to develop statistical recommendations on statelessness. The National Statistical Offices (NSOs) from Italy, Kenya, Mexico, and Sweden joined the panel of the Side Event. The NSOs shared concrete examples and good practices in the production of official statistics on forced displacement and statelessness. The event highlighted lessons learned from countries implementing the IRRS and IRIS and provided an important platform for peer-to-peer learning. Moreover, it was an excellent opportunity to generate actionable input to support further implementation of these frameworks.
