Making the most vulnerable visible: Data gaps and official statistics on forced displacement

The Joint Data Center on Forced Displacement (JDC) and the Expert Group on Refugee, IDP and Statelessness Statistics (EGRISS) held a virtual side event as part of the United Nations World Data Forum 2021.

This report summarizes the discussions that took place at the session around data gaps in the area of forced displacement and the importance of official statistics for informed policy making and programming at national, regional and global levels. The report further presents the experience of Somalia and Ukraine in implementing the International Recommendations on IDP Statistics (IRIS), as well as the work done by Colombia in the area of refugee statistics.
